Nuclear Disarmament Party

Introduction

The world has changed dramatically since September 11 2001.

The Coalition Government, fired up by racism and religious intolerance, blindly committed Australia to George Bush's so-called "War against Terrorism".

It is also a War against dissent, free speech, civil liberties, asylum seekers and multiculturalism. With Bush developing new nuclear weapons, and threatening to use them on seven countries, the threat of nuclear war is greater than it has ever been.

The punitive, militaristic approach of the "War against Terrorism" is not working and is leading to escalating violence, and increasing numbers of suicide bombers, who are born out of poverty, repression and despair.

Both the ALP and the Coalition are committed to expanding the sale of uranium to all and sundry for short term economic gain, regardless of the radioactive contamination which this will cause, and the inevitable spread of nuclear weapons. The policies of the Coalition are to build 15 nuclear power stations on the east coast of Australia, and an international nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory.

It is essential that these plans should be stopped and that Australians should vote against them.

A vote for the Nuclear Disarmament Party is the strongest vote for a Nuclear Free Australia. Our preferences flow on to the most anti-nuclear parties.

Our policies include:

*Stop uranium mining
*No nuclear power plants
*No nuclear waste dump in the N.T.
*Close foreign bases
*Troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan
